WHAT IS FELIWAY?

Feliway is a pheromone for cats range of products made by Ceva. Feliway is a synthetic copy of the Feline Facial Pheromone. This is the pheromone that cats leave naturally when they feel safe and secure in their environment. Feliway comforts cats at home and helps to reduce stress. Stress can cause behavioural issue symptoms such as urine spraying, scratching or hiding. Feliway can assist with this but it is normally necessary to address the underlying reason/causes as to why your cat feels stressed to resolve the issue entirely. An Animal Behaviourist will be able to work out how to remove the motivations causing the stress and may use Feliway as a tool to assist them in treating your cat. BOOK A CONSULT NOW…..

Feliway comes as either a diffuser or a spray. For use to combat chronic stress-related issues the diffuser should be used. Leave on continuously in the home. It is used in veterinary clinics and cat boarding kennels for example. The diffuser can be moved around to different rooms. The spray is only useful for short term stress episodes such as car travel, visit the vet, new bed or occurrence.

FELIWAY DIFFUSER & FELIWAY REFILLS:

The Feliway Diffuser plugs into an electrical plug socket and has a 48ml vial of the cat appeasing pheromone which diffuses into the air automatically and lasts up to 30 days. One Feliway Diffuser can cover an area of up to 70m2. You can buy separate replacement Feliway refills for the Feliway Diffuser. Each refill will last for one month with continuous use.

FELIWAY SPRAY:

The Feliway Spray comes in a 60ml spray bottle that can easily be taken out of the home and transported. The Feliway Spray offers comfort and reassurance by providing pheromone for cats whilst on the move, travelling or visits to the vet etc. During car journeys or when going to the vet, spray directly in your cat's carrier. Wait 15 minutes before letting your cat near any sprayed areas. During car, journeys re-spray the Feliway spray every 4-5 hours.

Feliway Spray can also be used in the home for targeted management of the areas marked by your cat with urine or scratching. For areas that have already been scratched or urine marked, clean marked areas thoroughly, then once dry, apply Feliway Spray. You can also use Feliway spray on doorways, cat-flaps, window sills and prominent objects around the house. Do not use Feliway Spray on a scratching post as it will prevent your cat from using the scratching post.
